OUR DIRECTOR

Dr. George Black

The Alamance Chorale has had several talented directors and accompanists since its beginning. Dr. George Black is one of the finest, and we are most fortunate to have him. He became the Alamance Chorale director in the fall of 2003.

Dr. Black arrived in the Triad area in 1999. He has over 25 years of broad professional experience which has included teaching in colleges, public schools, and churches, as well as administrative positions in arts administration. He most recently held music positions at Guilford College and Ebenezer Lutheran Church, both in Greensboro. In addition to his position as Director of the Alamance Chorale, he currently works in Human Resources with Dixie Sales Company in Brown's Summit. With degrees in both instrumental and choral music Dr. Black has served as a clinician and adjudicator for groups and competitions including several musical areas: band, vocal/choral, and handbell. Dr. Black earned the Bachelor of Instrumental Music Education degree from Mississippi State University, the Master of Sacred Music degree, Choral Conducting from Southern Methodist University, and the Doctor of Musical Arts, Choral Conducting degree from Louisiana State University.
