ALAMANCE CHORALE POLICIES

1. The annual membership fee is $30.00 payable to the Alamance Chorale and handed to the Treasurer. If payment of the annual membership fee would present a financial hardship for anyone, the situation should be discussed with the president in private. Accommodations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

2. Regular attendance at rehearsals is vital for the success of the Chorale. A member's participation in rehearsal not only enables that person to learn the music and applicable musical directions, but also contributes to the learning of every other person in attendance. Attendance at each rehearsal is expected and attendance will be taken at each reheasal.

Rehearsals begin promptly at 7:15 PM and end promptly at 9:15, unless changes are announced in advance. Members should arrive early in order to be prepared to start the rehearsal on time. The vocal warm-ups held at the beginning of rehearsal are vitally important to members' vocal health and to the success of the rehearsal. However, generally, members will be counted as present if they arrive by 7:30 PM. Exceptions to this deadline must be approved (in advance when possible) by the director in order for a member to be counted as present.

Members should take their responsibility to the Chorale seriously and should miss rehearsals only when unavoidable. If members miss more than three rehearsals for a major performance they will be notified by the secretary. After such notification has been received, it is then the member's responsibility to contact the director immediately to see if a plan for insuring adequate musical preparation can be developed and agreed upon. Such a plan may include any or all of the following: checking musical directions with an approved voice section member; sectional rehearsal(s) with an approved voice section member; and attendance at a make-up rehearsal including several Chorale members. Members may be asked not to sing in a performance if they do not follow the above procedure.

If members know in advance that they must miss rehearsals, they should sign out for the appropriate dates on the "Anticipated Missed Rehearsals" calendar located by the "Weekly Attendance Roster." For last minute absences members should contact the director by e-mail or telephone at once. If that is not possible they should contact a member of the Executive Committee right away.

Attendance at all dress rehearsals and major performances is mandatory. Any deviance from this policy must be approved by the director in consultation with the Executive Committee.

3. Performance attire:

Men:
Approved Chorale tuxedo and approved accessories (i.e. black socks and shoes, black bow tie).
Women:
Approved concert gown and appropriate accessories (i.e. one pearl necklace, small pearl earrings)

If purchase of the Chorale performance attire would present a financial hardship for anyone, the situation should be discussed with the President in private.

4. Music will be assigned and distributed by the Librarian(s). It must be returned to the designated area after a performance. Members not returning music will be requested to pay for that music.
